2:30PM

The renovation begins.

It actually started the evening before when our contractor, Steve, of Central Construction e-mailed us to say that he would start demolition work on Monday, January 17th.  This gave us the weekend to empty out and sort through several rooms that would be gutted or torn down including the kitchen, the office, and the two bump-outs (furnace room and gramps' bedroom).

Boxes, and lots of them. Off to Kappy's (so appropriate) for more boxes.

The house is cold, very cold...ice on windows cold...with the heating system turned off for the winter.  Kitchen first.  Pots, pans, dishes, glassware, utensils, small appliances and Tupperware... where did all this Tupperware come from?  Furnace room:  tools, cleaning supplies, miscellaneous hardware and Alex's Frisbee...  Office:  furniture, mirrors, lamps, scary twin box springs and doors... several doors that have been removed for the renovation.  Gramps' bedroom:  more furniture, more mirrors, lamps and an errant vacuum.

6:30PM
We're done!

Mark arranged a donation of our appliances to Habitat For Humanity.  There is a family on Cape Cod who doesn't have any appliances so we are donating the laundry machines, range, dishwasher and microwave to them.  They are nearly new and in great condition.
